It was a crisp September day. The glowing sun was exquisitely accentuating the rolling hills surrounding the Maple Springs House and Estate, nestled away in the magnificent countryside of Middleburg, Virginia. Sarah and Cameron arrived just a tad early to prepare for the evening ahead, and to sneak a peak of their beautiful harvest-inspired dinner party. The sophisticated and whimsical affair was no ordinary dinner party. Sarah and Cameron gathered an intimate group of near-and-dear family to celebrate their recent engagement. Unbeknownst to their guests, their engagement dinner would soon shift from a divine harvest engagement gathering to a surprise elopement, set to be officiated by Sarah’s grandfather.
Sarah slipped into her first ensemble for the evening, a rust orange maxi slip dress, which exuded the effortless elegant ambiance of the occasion. Ten of Sarah and Cameron’s family members arrived shortly thereafter, awe-inspired by the radiant beauty of the setting. Each guest was received in goodwill with welcome baskets, artfully designed by Marigold & Grey. The carefully crafted gifts had a certain je ne sais quoi that enhanced the endearing décor.
After enjoying savory pomegranate cocktails surrounded by the intimate company of their family, Sarah and Cameron gathered their guests for an astonishing seasonal supper. Her romantic draped dress tied perfectly to the warm hues of the divine tablescape. The autumn harvest décor was vibrant with copper tones and warm rustic reds, a sight that would make any fall lover’s heart flutter. They dined over Brussels sprouts and biscuits, and raised their glasses with well wishes over smooth red wine.
Soon after dinner was finished, guests wandered out to take in the majesty of the Middleburg setting, still unaware of all that was about to take place. Sarah was whisked away to change into her second dress for the evening, her wedding dress. When Sarah and Cameron reappeared, joy and astonishment quickly flooded the atmosphere, as their family finally realized that the occasion was actually their wedding. Surprise! Sarah and Cameron were getting married!
Sarah and Cameron exchanged vows overlooking the rolling mountains, in an intimate ceremony officiated by Sarah’s grandfather. Their elopement was pure joy, and focused on simple yet significant details.
This delightful styled shoot was sponsored by, Wedding Paper Divas, Vicki Grafton Photography, and Middleburg Events Studio. The story and shoot was inspired by a real surprise elopement that Vicki recently captured, and Wedding Paper Divas’ Everlasting Gem signature foil invitation collection, available here. Their work on this shoot was perfection. VGS is in absolute awe at the story, simple yet significant details, and the magnificent harvest décor. Bravo!
