Letter From The Bride
When we considered where we wanted to get married, we immediately thought of Williamsburg, VA. We met in law school there and had many of our favorite memories in Williamsburg, so it made perfect sense to return for our wedding. After seeing the beautiful buildings and grounds, we immediately booked the Williamsburg Winery.
The girls got ready at the Wedmore the day of the wedding and spent the morning drinking champagne and watching college football. The men got ready across town. Ryan loves cars, so I surprised him with two classic Cadillacs to drive the groomsmen to the Winery.
We wanted to plan an intimate and romantic ceremony that felt like us and celebrated our 8 years together. The string quartet learned "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds, one of Ryan's favorite artists, for me to walk down the aisle escorted by my big brother (another surprise for the groom). We wrote the ceremony together and pledged to be partners in the adventure of life. Our friends picked out readings to perform and surprised us with a University of Florida tradition (a song called "We are the boys"), which added some laughs and fun to the ceremony.
My mom helped to make many special details happen. We made the escort cardholders together from Williamsburg Winery corks. She put together our welcome bags, complete with personalized M&M’s and water bottles. She hand sewed the belts for each of my bridesmaids and made custom hangers for each of my girls. She also sewed the curtains for the arbor that we used in the ceremony. Working with her on designing so many elements made the day even more special.
The planning process was made so easy by our amazing vendors. We wanted a classic romance and elegance to the day, which our vendors carried out exactly. We were surrounded by candlelight as our friends and family ate the amazing food and then danced the night away. The reception was a perfect blend of classic black tie and dance party and created a night of memories that we will cherish forever. We are so grateful that we have these beautiful photos to remember a truly perfect day, 8 years in the making.
Each handcrafted note featured in the Virginia Grace Social Letters From The Bride series, is filled with intimate words of wisdom generously passed from one bride to another. Courtney’s kind note is one for the books, friends. As Courtney warmly describes, each detail of her Williamsburg Winery wedding was a reflection of the legacy that she and Ryan carefully built over their eight-year relationship. Courtney and Ryan’s wedding celebration was effortlessly elegant and radiant with a sophisticated romantic ambiance. It was spectacular!
At VGS, we believe in cultivating a wedding celebration filled with details that represent age-old tradition and honor your legacy. Courtney and Ryan’s wedding day was a wonderful representation of all that a legacy-honoring wedding is.
